The Da Vinci Code

Something different of promotion of this film.

Don't you think so ?

I saw a trailer of this film first time in last year, I think.
And suddenly it's gone. There was no chance to see it again.
No single of scene. No where.

That's why I thought "The Da Vinci Code" had already started and also had finished.

But it's wrong.

On the contrary,it has not opened yet.


Anyway,

It's starting on this month.
Does anyone go there ?
I do.
After reading the books though.


Well, I bought The Da Vinci Code , a book, on the way to home.

"end of the year"

End of the 2005 is really really close.

Whenever I went to abroad, I took a picture of the air of the city.
Street,people,building,station and so on.
Of course going sightseeing place is not so bad, but touching and feeling
the place where people spend a time to live is so interesting.

When I stoped by the bookstore in London, I looked over
the "lonely planet" about Japan.
It's funny.
Most of the pictures in that book is likely traditional Japanese.
like temple, shrine, Japanese festival as Gion-Matsuri,geisya,etc....
Yes those are true.
Those are not all, but which I remember is those things.
Are you sure that is a real Japan ???

Imformation of the picure have an effect on the people who have never known about it.

.......well, the introduction is too long, futhermore,
it doesn't make any sence.


All right.

I walked around in Tokyo to feel "end of the year".
This is that story.
(.....it's just a diary though. but not so bad. this might be a first time
for me to take a photo about noting special in Tokyo. It was an interesting in some sense.)


Roppongi is the place as rendez-vous this time.



Roppongi crossroad used to be a kind of popular.
Now?? I'm not sure. Anyway it's just the crossroad. no more, no less.

Uhhhhhh, I can't find "end of the year".....where is there???
First of all, we were supposed to have a lunch and then we began to have a quarrel.

"round 1"
The biginning, we just talked about the word "end of the year" happily,
but it changed slowly and slowly and finally to the horrible fight
when she said

"Something wrong in Japan. At least first 3 days in January must be a national holiday.
When I was young, it must have been.
but some like department store starts business from second January.
It's just for sales of that company. Sales! Profit! There is more important thing than that!
Don't you think so?"

"What? I don't think so. You've never understand about management of company at all!
It takes for granted that a company supplies the service if there is needs in there.
If you want to have a dayoff,it's ok but your salary is cut off! allright ?"

"Hey! What the hell are you talking about? You are....."

Like that.
It's difficult to write down what exactly happened.
Our talking had many kind of background and of course I'm not her boss.
What we do is quite different.
I don't know, but we started to be excited more and more.
It must have be close to serious fight.

Of course, we were laughing each other at last.

After fighting, we were supposed to move to Shinjyuku.



Subway.
Do you think the subway in Tokyo is kind for people ?
Sometimes I am lost.



Shinjyuku.
I thought it's crowded less than usual.....because it's "end of the year"?



A neon sign at Shinjyuku is something unhealthy.
Those are absolutely different from one of another city like Ginza.
This city has a something power but not be a stylish.
I don't know why. Is it depends on.....?
Something dark. Yes! It's something dark, Shibuya is similar, isn't it?
It's not so bad.



This back alley is likely to be called a "syonben-dori".
There is a lot of small cheap bar and Japanese restaurant in there.
Foriegner as both tourist and resident wants to come here.
Maybe I can understand.
Whenever I traveled alone in abroad, I did. I was always looking for the place as same as
the "shonben-dori".
It's a small discovery.



We moved again.
This was a small Chinese restaurant in Nakano.
Wow!! It's like really nice.
We ordered
three dishes, one noodle, one fried rice and one pure rice for two person.

.......????

Excuse me? Who eat all of these??

Anyway, that must have been a wonderful dinner time with a beer,a delicious Chinese food
and a happy talk.

"round 2"
It's about public relations. I won't write down in detail, becase it's nonsense.

It's funny.
We did fight easily today. It was really funny.


In the first place, I had walked around in Tokyo to find the feeling of "end of the year"




Now, I found it.

.....Is this?

But when I found this at a local shopping mall in Nakano, I could feel "end of the year"
a little bit.

Changing the year.

It's just nothing different as changing the day as usual, but people try to look back
what we did of this year and prepare to the next year.

This is really wonderful custom, isn't it?

London 〜food〜

Nobody tells me "British food ? It's so brilliant !! "

But is it true???
No one doesn't like a delicious meal.
people prefer to have a great time with a wonderful food.
British people must be no exception.

I had some prejudice about british before going England.
They prefer drinking tea to drinking coffee.
Of course they have a coffee, but it must be minority.

It is absolutely fault.

While staying England, I had seen a thousand of coffee shop in there and
had seen a lot of people walking in the street with a cup of coffee in his hand.
It means is it the same as about food tendency for British ???

Yes, it is.

When I went to the Pub for the lunch, I asked for the traditional food
to the staff of that Pub.
She recommended some from the menu,
and which I ordered was.........



Hey!! What is this !?

It's called a "NICHOLSON'S TOAD IN THE HOLE".
It looks like not so good, but tastes really nice!,too big though......
Saying simpley, it's a sausage & mashed poteto with gravy sauce and
some vegetable in the pie, that's all.
Next table orderd the Fish & Chips as famaous.
Maybe which I orderd was correct, because that was really big too
and tended to be sick to keep eating.

Well, I couln't eat this up, actually.
It was nice, but too much for me.
An old British lady over there orderd same stuff as mine.
She ate so slowly, one bites and one bites and so on.
I kept watching her without concious, and as suprising she did eat it up !!!
It's funny! It was a too much, really.
I am not the person who eat like horse, but eat normaly as man.
She ate everything whish I couldn't.
Wow !! I impressed to her!!
She left the pub like as usual......


Anyway, I realize that one thing.
British food is not so bad.

I'm wondering.....

What do you feel using two languages???
Japnaese and English, Japanease and Chinease, English and Spanish,whatever....
I mean, speaking perfecly not using another one a little bit.

There is an international school near by my house.
Conversation of them is really funny, beacause they use two languages at the same time.
Like a , in spite of having a chat in English, they start speaking Japanese suddenly, without a single of sign.

They think it is just one language, not English and Japanese???
or feel difference of two language as a dialect???

Are not they confuesed??
Actually, a guy who　translates each time like me can't understand this.


I'm really wondering what could I see if I got an English 100%.....???

引っ張りだした、listening CDを聞く。


もうあかん。
寝る。

なぜ話せない？？？

別会社でマンションを持っているんですが、
そこは外国人専用の賃貸住宅にしています。

当然、専門の管理会社を間に入れていますが
そこのマネージメントは基本的にぼくがやっています。

先日入居した新しい入居者さんは、よくモノをなくします（笑
黒人ミュージシャンの旦那さんと日本人の女医さんというカップル。

そのおチャメな旦那さんがよくモノをなくします。
それをなぜかいちいちぼくに連絡してくるんです。
普通は管理会社に連絡するので、そちらで対処するんですけどね。

以前はパーキングで鍵をなくされました（オイオイ）
ま、それはそれでトラブル対象になるので、
対応しましたが、今回は同じくパーキングで帽子とケースを
なくされました。（おっちょこちょいだよな〜）
ぼくにどうしろと言うので？？？

で、今日は電話対応だったんですけど。

痛感しました。

speakingがあきまへん。
face to faceで話す時はまだしも、「話す」という事だけで
対応する電話で思い知りました。ガーン！！！


さらに高まる勉強意欲！！！（笑

ってな事で、今日も一人音読やりました（小学生よろしく）

例え眠くても・・・・・。

ものすごく眠い。。。。

決意をしたのが一昨日。
昨日は言ってみれば2日目。

一昨日は昨日の昨日。・・・・・なんのこっちゃ。
でもthe day before yesterdayだからね。おかしくない。

昨日は久しぶりに勉強しながら寝てしまうという
なんとも懐かしい事をしてしまいました。
まぁ、うたた寝なんだが。

最近、なんか寝不足。
昨日、仕事がめまぐるしくバタバタでかなり疲れてた。（変な日本語だ）
その後、飲んでしまったから家に帰ったときは
そりゃ、もう眠い、眠い。
でも、やるって言った翌日から、もうお休みというわけにもいかないので
まぁ、英語に触れる時間をちゃんと取りました。

そう触れる。
勉強するとは言ったけど
いきなり文法の本開いたところで飽きてしまうのは目に見えているから
一昨日からペーパーバックを読んでる。

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"

とにかく英語からずいぶん離れていたので
習慣づけることが絶対に大事！（と勝手に思ってる）
（いいの、いいの。）

生きていない文法テキストの文章なんて
いくら読んでもおもしろくない。

とはいえ、いきなりビジネスブックとか読もうとしたって
辞書をひきひきなんてこれまた考えたくもない。
下手したら2ページ読むだけで１時間かかっちまう。

だからね。子供の本からスタートですよ。
辞書も極力ひかない。ひくとしてもLONGMAN。
だからわからない単語は辞書をひいても今イチわからないままだったりする。
ま、そんな難しい単語なんてそんなないんだけど。子供の本だし。
とにかくイメージを描きながら読む。

それで声優さながら声を出してブツブツ読む。
役者のように声だして読む。
一人お芝居ですな。

気になった言葉は書く、書く、書く。

ってやってたんだけどね。途中で寝ちゃった・・・・・・。
その後、まぁいろいろとあって寝たのがまたかなり遅く
今日はさらに眠いぃぃ。

困った・・・・・（汗



さ、今日の１時間。勉強しよ。

決めた！

最近いろんな所から刺激を受けて、英語を勉強することを決意！
地道にコツコツと、ということで一日１時間は英語に費やそう。
そして何をやったかここに記してやる。


・・・書いちゃった。


あー、もうすでに不安だ。何日坊主になるだろう？？？
うーん、激しく不安。

・・・・・オフの日は任意ということで（汗

やっぱ英語ぐらい・・・

バイリンガルにあこがれる。


この前、「オーシャンズ１２」を見ていて（あんまりおもしろくなかったけど）
どこのシーンを強く覚えているかというと
ナイトフォックスという泥棒がいるんだけど、彼はフランス人。
で、当然フランス語で話すわけだけど、
途中で、相手が「英語で話してもよいか？」との問いに
「of course」
とすぐに英語に切替えるというシーン。

うーん、すばらしい！と思ってしまった。


この前、アメリカ人と話す機会があった。

自慢じゃないけど、ぼくの英語って結構それらしく聞こえる。
カッコから入るぼくは、英語を習っていたとき、
発音とかイントネーションとかにやたら気を使った。
というか、とにかくマネした。
ジェスチャーとかもずいぶんマネした。
日本語では、存在しないジェスチャーとかもずいぶん覚えたし。

だから、その時は
周りの人間から「見直しましたー」って言われた。
（おい、おい、なんじゃいな、見直したとは！）

でもね。

ぜーんぜんダメ。
言葉忘れてる。
相手が話していることだって
アウトライン的なことだけしかわからなかった。


よし！ここはもう一度、やりなおそう！



と固く心に誓ったのでありました・・・・・。

第２を上達させるには。

家に帰りテレビをつけたら３ch（ＮＨＫ）で英会話がやっていた。

ぼくは大学時代、かの駅前留学に通っていた事がある。
海外を一人旅をする楽しみを学生時代覚えてから
かなり真剣に英語の勉強もした。コミュニケーションがとれるのととれないのとでは、
旅する際の行動範囲や学ぶべきことに雲泥の差がある。

ほとんどの英会話学校がそうであるように、
入学するとレベルチェックを受けさせられる。
今のクラスがどうなっているか知らないけど、当時のぼくのレベルは７B。
これは下から２番目。通い方にムラがあったのだけど、終わるころには
レベル４だったので、かなり上達した方だと思う。
どれくらいすごいかと自慢すると、（井の中の蛙なんだけどね）
通っているほとんどの生徒に羨望のまなざしを受けるぐらい。
向こうに住んでいたんですか〜？なんて聞かれちゃうぐらい。

でもなぜそんなに上達することができたかいうと
当時、外国の友達がたくさんいたという事に尽きる。
（まぁ、そういうネットワークができたのには、駅前留学に通っていたから
というおかげなので、感謝すべきことなんだけど）

生きてる言葉と作られた言葉というものは全然違います。

英会話学校では、だいたい生徒同士でお芝居をさせられる。
まぁ、先生もまじるわけだけど。
なんて言うのかな〜。
・・・・・ロールプレイング？
そう。ロールプレイング。

シチュエーションは、あなたはこれから好きな人に告白します。
あなたはこれから告白される人です。
じゃあ、やってみて。みたいな。

こんなのね、はっきり言ってお話になりませんよ。
その前に、普通はidiomを勉強する。
idiomというのはキーワード的なセンテンス。つまり言い方というのかな。
それを使ってロールプレイングをしましょう！という感じ。
まぁ、ユニークな生徒はアドリブを使っておもしろく会話をするんだけど
ほとんどの生徒はお手本どおり。
だいたい先生はこういう時はブレイクをとっている。
生徒にやらせている最中はちょっと休憩ってな感じです。
お互いたいしてボキャブラリー多いわけもないし、もともと話せないわけだから
それ以上の会話の広がりはなかなかむずかしいわけです。

ぼくの場合、ラッキーだったのは
ここで覚えて、本番で使う！という機会が多々あったという事だと思う。

一時期、ホントに日本の友達との付き合いより
外国の友達との付き合いにのめり込んでいたという時期があった。
（いばる事でもないけれど、ぼくはきっと典型的な日本人ではないと思う）
そういう時期だったので、彼女もイギリス人だった。
なので、告白しなければいけない時もあったし、
ケンカする事もあった。
むずかしい話をした時もあった。
（男尊女卑に関してとか。←完全に劣勢だったのでよく覚えてる）
あの時は夢の中も英語だった事があったな〜。
話す事に真剣なんですよ。発する言葉に責任があることもあるから。
日本語で話していてニュアンスの違い（誤解？）でケンカになったりすること
あるでしょう？英語も当然そういうことがあるわけだし
彼女であったり、本当の友達であったりすると
こいつは日本人で英語があまり話せないからというのは理由にならない。
普段はその辺を考慮してたとしても
感情が入ったときはそんなのはなくなる。
実際に中国人の友達（日本語レベル中級）が、悪意はなく失礼な言葉使いをした
時にものすごくムカついた事があるし。

これが大事だと思う。
生きてる言葉の環境であれば、きっと言語は上達する。
それを促進する場（ぼくの場合は駅前留学のクラス）があればなおさら。
だからきっと英会話学校だけ通っていてもきっとダメなんだろうなと思います。

なんで、こんな事書いているかというと
その英会話の番組みてたら
みんな同じ顔してるなと思ったから。
韓国の子もいれば、タイの子もいるし、日本の子もいるというクラスだったけど
みんな駅前留学に来てた子たちと同じ顔してるなと思ったから。
で、同じようにロールプレイングしてる。
今日は、なんか最終回ちっくに
award授与してた。
〜キャラクター賞は誰々！みたいな。

・・・わかりづらいか。

つまり、今までのクラスでいろんなロールプレイングで勉強してきたわけだけど
アカデミー賞みたいに
やさしいキャラクターの一番は誰々ですー！みたいな感じ。
でもね、しょせんはおままごと。（失礼でごめんなさい）
あの番組はきっと実際のアメリカの語学学校をテレビ番組にしているのだろうけど
生徒たちがそのクラスだけが英語環境であったとしたら
きっとダメなんだろうなと思う。

とてもえらそうに書いてるけど
あの番組を見てたらいろんな事を思い出してしまいました。
